Packaging and labelling of food ingredients can be a confusing minefield to navigate for everyone, particularly for vegans. So, 'if in doubt, leave it out'.

NISHA MAL: ‘Veganism has seen a rise in popularity over the last 3 years, with more plant-based options available in the supermarkets and restaurants now than ever before. According to statics from nutritional supplement brand Veganicity, there are now around 3.5 million people – seven percent of adults in the UK – opting to go meat and dairy-free.

But there are some ingredients listed on food packages – that contain traces of animals – that you might not know about. Simon Bandy, General Manager of Veganicity, has created a guide of the lesser known ingredients cited in pre-packed food that derive from animals…
