Vegans storm ethical food shop selling ‘happy’ meat, eggs and milk

Around 30 protesters lined the isles and stood outside holding signs with messages such as ‘local doesn’t mean ethical’ and ‘meat is murder’. A DxE activist at the demonstration said: Don’t be gullible, there’s no such thing as 'happy' meat.

ZOE DREWETT: ‘Vegans shouting through megaphones targeted shoppers and staff at an ethical food store for buying into ‘false advertising’. Activists chanted slogans and carried banners accusing sustainable shop HISBE of ‘selling a lie’ by promoting its locally sourced and free range ‘happy’ meat, eggs and milk. The shop said it had allowed the vegans from Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) to carry out their protest but said ‘we won’t be doing that again’ after customers were intimidated… Around 30 protesters lined the isles and stood outside holding signs with messages such as ‘local doesn’t mean ethical’ and ‘meat is murder’. They stuck posters on shop counters and aisles that read ‘Animals’ lives are their right. Killing them is violent and unjust, no matter how it’s done’…

A DxE activist at the demonstration said: ‘Don’t be gullible – there’s no such thing as “happy” meat, milk or eggs. These farms aren’t ethical, they are places were animals are bred to be profited from and murdered… Free range and local are labels that make people feel more comfortable about animal exploitation and murder but there is nothing ethical about farming and killing animals. This whole “happy” exploitation movement is not baby steps, they are big steps in a seriously backward direction.’ On Facebook after the protest the group wrote: ‘We do not seek permission to expose the truth.’ It added that protesters ‘will be back’.’  SOURCE…
