The feelings of those aggrieved is nothing compared to what non-human animals are suffering. He believes his group could eradicate the meat industry within a generation.

EVENING STANDARD: ‘Around 20 members of Direct Action Everywhere entered a restaurant and shouted “there’s no excuse for animal abuse” at diners… and held signs brandishing slogans such as “it’s not food it’s violence” and played the screams of animals in slaughterhouses. A leading member of a vegan activist group… said that upsetting people is just an unfortunate consequence of their protests and said the feelings of those aggrieved by his organisation is nothing compared to “what non-human animals are suffering”. He believes his group could “eradicate the meat industry within a generation”…

The protester defended it as a necessary means for his desired outcome – the destruction of industries which use animals for products within the next generation. “I think we kind of expect a negative reaction – we know not everybody is going to support us over night,” he said. “We’ve been conditioned since we were children that animals are property. “When we challenge social norms we know not everybody is going to agree with that initially.”

They call this plan the “forty-year roadmap to animal liberation” which will see a “constitutional amendment, with broad public support, abolishing institutionalised exploitation of non-human animals and granting legal personhood”. Mr McKeefry said: “We are changing how people see non-human animals. “We’re about trying to change social norms. Violence to animals is very much normalised’. SOURCE…
